Groundworks near completion
Following torrentlial rains earlier this summer groundworks in Totteridge have picked up in pace and are now near completion. The stepped retaining wall which will form part of a side access path is now complete, and the the piled retaining wall opposite is due to be concreted.
Camden Summer University
Camden Summer University, which is organized by Camden Council, provides free courses to young people aged between 13-19 years (and up to 25 for those with learning disability) who live or go to school in Camden. Courses run from Monday 23 July to Friday 31 August 2012.
As part of Planning Aid London, Ralf Heckmann helped to deliver the introductory Planning/Urban Design/Architecture course “Designing good safe places to play for all”, accredited by the AQA.
The course will help young people aged 14-19 to look at neighbourhoods and open spaces critically, as well as helping them to develop some basic skills in urban and landscape design, architecture and town planning.
The course is centred on an under-used public space on the Ossulston housing estate in Somers Town, which student will be asked to re-design as a new play space that meets the needs of a wide range of young people, the needs of the environment and local surroundings, and the needs of other local residents.

Planning permission granted
Following consultations with Barnet Council Heckmann Design secured planning permission for a new built family dwelling in the Toteridge Conservation Area.
The new property has been designed with due regard to the existing topography, landscape, streetscape and with particular consideration to the neighbouring properties. It is considered to sit well amongst the surrounding properties and will preserve and enhance the character of the conservation area.
New-built house in North London
Heckmann Design was appointed as planning and architectural consultant on a new 750sqm mansion in Totteridge, North London. The property is to be built in an environmentally conscious manner and will comply with the Code for Sustainable Homes level 4.
